Game Picks | Let the Tribe Work While You Relax: Soulmask 1.0 Tribal Progression and Squad Servers

A tribal survival sandbox where you no longer do all the labor! Mask-based possession, automated tribal roles, dual-map cluster deployment, and persistent co-op server tips.

In most survival-building games, players end up as full-time laborers, chopping trees and mining for the entire base. In Soulmask, you are the tribe's chief! Its defining idea is to recruit skilled natives and assign farming, charcoal production, forging, and patrol duties, while your squad relaxes in the shade with a drink or takes an armed airship on an expedition. The game's 1.0 release arrives alongside the major Shifting Sands DLC. Here is a practical guide to squad progression and persistent-server pitfalls.

Why Does Soulmask Make Squad Life Easier?

  1. Mask possession: take control of whoever catches your eye: Your starting character has ordinary attributes, but the mask grants the power to transfer consciousness. Find a master blacksmith or a fighter with top-tier red traits, knock them out, recruit them, and take control! You can use that exceptional warrior's moves and damage directly, creating an unusual character-progression experience.
  2. Genuinely automated tribal production lines: Build workshops, fields, and dining spaces, then set workflows: hunters automatically hunt and skin animals, chefs cook meat and soup, and farmers plant and water crops. Even when the entire squad goes to sleep, tribe members keep working to fill several large warehouses with supplies!
  3. The 1.0 desert DLC and heavily armed airships: The new ancient-Egypt-inspired desert contains temples buried beneath shifting sands. Your squad can also build a multiplayer battle airship driven by an ancient ether core! One player pilots while others fire heavy broadside cannons at ground targets for spectacular battles.

Why Set Up a Dedicated Server?

Tribal work scheduling, crop growth, and airship maintenance all run on a continuous timeline. If the host's personal computer runs the world, the entire tribe pauses when it shuts down. A dedicated server running around the clock lets the tribe stockpile resources day and night:

  • Server AppID: 3017310 (anonymous SteamCMD download)
  • Core communication ports: UDP 7777 (main communication port) and UDP 27015 (query port)
  • Desert DLC extension: For travel across a dual-map cluster, the second map can use UDP 7877 and UDP 27016.
  • Complete setup guide: For server tuning and GameXishu.json settings, see Soulmask Dedicated Server Setup and Parameter Tuning.

An Easier Way to Manage Your Squad's Server

We recommend our open-source LanGame Server Manager (LGSM) (GitHub: SZSLGJCOM/LanGame-Server-Manager). LGSM supports one-click dual-map orchestration, graphical controls for tribesman limits and gathering multipliers, automatic nonconflicting port configuration, and complete live backups of tribe data, removing the hassle of managing configuration files.

Playing Across Networks and Joining the Server

  • With a public IP: Forward ports 7777/27015 on your router. Friends can enter public-IP:7777 in the game lobby to connect to the tribe directly.
  • Without a public IP on rental or campus networks: Open the LINK feature in LanGame OS Orbit together, join a private encrypted LAN room, and connect using the virtual network adapter IP. The encrypted P2P tunnel offers low latency and zero packet loss—launch the airship and patrol your territory!
