Satisfactory Dedicated Server Setup and Persistent Automation Deployment Guide

Deploy a Satisfactory dedicated server: SteamCMD 1690800, unified UDP/TCP 7777 and TLS 8888 forwarding, client Server Manager authentication and claiming, saves, and open-source LGSM management.

The Satisfactory Dedicated Server runs the planetary open world and vast conveyor automation and power networks independently of clients, 24 hours a day. Space Elevator assembly progress and coal and nuclear power cycles can continue whether group members are online or not. This article covers current server setup, ports, initial claiming and authentication, and operations tuning.

1. Server hardware baseline

Specification Phase 13 lightweight factory (24 players) Phase 4~5 industrial megacomplex
CPU 4 cores / 3.4GHz+ 8 cores / 3.8GHz+ with high single-core performance
Memory (RAM) 12 GB physical RAM 24 GB ~ 32 GB physical RAM
Storage 30 GB NVMe SSD 80 GB NVMe SSD
Upload bandwidth 10 Mbps dedicated 30 Mbps dedicated

2. Install the dedicated server with SteamCMD

Download the dedicated server anonymously through SteamCMD (AppID 1690800):

Shell
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 1690800 validate +quit

After the download, the Windows executable is: Engine/Binaries/Win64/FactoryServer-Win64-Shipping-Cmd.exe (or call FactoryServer.exe in the root directly).

3. Unified network port planning

With the 1.0 architecture, the official networking stack was redesigned, replacing the separate early ports 15000 / 15777 with:

Port Protocol Purpose Router forwarding
7777 UDP / TCP Unified game connection data and query port (Game & Query) Required (TCP+UDP)
8888 TCP Reliable HTTPS/TLS certificate management and Web API communication Required (TCP)

4. Claim the server from the client for the first time

Rather than manually writing plaintext passwords in configuration, Satisfactory uses secure client certificate claiming:

  1. Start the server console.
  2. Launch the client and select Server Manager in the main menu.
  3. Select Add Server, enter the server's LAN or public IP, and keep port 7777.
  4. The client detects an unclaimed server and prompts you to set the Server Name and create an Admin Password.
  5. After claiming, create a new world or load an existing single-player save directly in the graphical interface.

5. Choose an approach: manual configuration or LanGame Server Manager (LGSM)

Manual Satisfactory maintenance involves TLS certificate chains, batch command-line arguments, and rotating archives of giant saves.

We recommend the official open-source dedicated server management platform to automate routine administration:

LGSM features:

  1. Unified port connectivity diagnostics: Checks 7777 (TCP/UDP) and 8888 (TCP) in one click and prevents port conflicts automatically.
  2. Giant world snapshot management: Supports custom backup schedules and complete one-click restore points before extensive power grid reorganization or demolition.
  3. Memory overload watchdog: Monitors server memory trends and supports unattended, smooth memory cleanup while the server is empty.
  4. Live log filtering and analysis: Highlights factory warnings and network disconnections to help administrators locate problems precisely.
