Nightingale Dedicated Server Setup and NWXServer.exe Arguments Guide

Set up the official Nightingale dedicated server (AppID 3796810): UDP 7777 forwarding, ServerSettings.ini, Realmwalker multi-world synchronization, and open-source LGSM management.

Nightingale combines Victorian gaslamp fantasy with survival and building in otherworldly realms. Players become Realmwalkers, using arcane cards to open portals to unknown floating islands, swamps, and desert realms. A self-hosted official Dedicated Server gives explorers a persistent private home realm and access to dimensional expeditions at any time. This article provides production server deployment standards and network tuning.

1. Hardware and system baseline

Configuration Minimum configuration Recommended production configuration
CPU architecture 4 cores / above 3.2 GHz 8 cores / high clock speed of 3.6 GHz+ (for complex Unreal 5 lighting and portal travel)
Physical RAM 16 GB physical RAM 32 GB physical RAM (allowing for multi-realm caches and detailed building meshes)
Disk storage 30 GB reserved space Fast NVMe SSD (frequent realm transitions and asset loading)
Upload bandwidth 15 Mbps 30 Mbps+ (for smooth combat and real-time physics synchronization in a 6-player group)

2. SteamCMD deployment command

The official Nightingale Dedicated Server supports anonymous SteamCMD downloads:

  • Server AppID: 3796810
  • Main executable: NWXServer.exe
Shell
# Download/update the Nightingale dedicated server anonymously
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 3796810 validate +quit

The first run of NWXServer.exe generates default configuration files in NWX/Config/.

3. Network port matrix

Port Protocol Purpose Firewall and forwarding policy
7777 UDP Core game data and realm physics synchronization Core port; allow in the firewall and forward on the router
8080 TCP Server status monitoring and health probes (optional) Internal monitoring; LAN-only access recommended

Allow the game port in Windows PowerShell:

PowerShell
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "Nightingale Server UDP" -Direction Inbound -LocalPort 7777 -Protocol UDP -Action Allow

4. Main configuration: ServerSettings.ini

The file is located at NWX/Config/ServerSettings.ini:

INI
[ServerSettings]
; Public server name
ServerName=Nightingale Realmwalker Haven
; Join password (leave empty for no password)
ServerPassword=
; Administrator password
AdminPassword=YourSecretAdminPassword
; Maximum players (6-player group recommended)
MaxPlayers=6
; Bind IP (specify an IP with multiple adapters; leave empty with one adapter)
BindIP=0.0.0.0
; Automatic save interval (seconds)
AutoSaveIntervalSec=300

Example startup command:

PowerShell
.\NWXServer.exe -log -stdout -FullStdOutLogOutput -port=7777 -multihome=0.0.0.0

5. Open-source LGSM management

We recommend the official open-source LanGame Server Manager (LGSM) (repository: GitHub - SZSLGJCOM/LanGame-Server-Manager).

  1. One-click template deployment: LGSM natively integrates a Nightingale server module to download the 3796810 core in one click.
  2. Smart adapter binding: Resolves bind IP priority conflicts between virtual LAN and physical adapters automatically.
  3. Scheduled realm snapshots: Creates incremental and full snapshots of NWX/Saved/ to prevent realm corruption from portal travel or unexpected crashes.

6. Remote multiplayer and network optimization

  • Public internet: Forward UDP 7777 on the router. Teammates can enter public IP:7777 in the main menu to connect directly to the home realm.
  • Networking without a public IP: For rented accommodation or campus networks, use LINK in LanGame OS Orbit. Bring teammates into the same encrypted LAN room and connect through the virtual IP within seconds for low-latency realm exploration!
