HumanitZ is an isometric open-world zombie survival game combining hardcore survival, scavenging, vehicle modification, and base defense. Its self-hosted Dedicated Server lets survivors scavenge together, build defenses, and resist periodic raging zombie hordes on the same vast wasteland map. This article details official server deployment and performance optimization.
1. Server hardware baseline
| Configuration | Minimum requirement | Recommended production configuration |
|---|---|---|
| CPU architecture | 4 cores / above 3.0 GHz | 8 cores / high clock speed of 3.5 GHz+ (for pathfinding AI of hundreds of simultaneous zombies) |
| Physical RAM | 8 GB physical RAM | 16 GB+ physical RAM (allowing for large map chunks and abandoned vehicle physics caches) |
| Disk storage | 15 GB reserved space | Fast NVMe SSD (frequent container reads/writes and world saves) |
| Upload bandwidth | 10 Mbps | 25 Mbps+ (for smooth shooting and driving synchronization in an 8-player group) |
2. Deploy with SteamCMD
The official HumanitZ dedicated server supports anonymous SteamCMD downloads:
- Server AppID:
2728330 - Main executable:
HumanitZServer.exe
# Download/update the HumanitZ dedicated server anonymously
steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 2728330 validate +quit
The first run of HumanitZServer.exe creates the full default configuration in HumanitZServer/.
3. Network port matrix
HumanitZ uses two standard UDP ports:
| Port | Transport protocol | Purpose | Firewall and forwarding policy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7777 | UDP | Core client connection and physics synchronization | Core port; allow it in the firewall and router for public access |
| 27015 | UDP | Steam queries and lobby listing broadcasts | Forwarding required for lobby searches and status display |
Allow the ports in Windows PowerShell:
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "HumanitZ Game UDP" -Direction Inbound -LocalPort 7777 -Protocol UDP -Action Allow
New-NetFirewallRule -DisplayName "HumanitZ Query UDP" -Direction Inbound -LocalPort 27015 -Protocol UDP -Action Allow
4. Main configuration: GameServerSettings.ini
The file is located at HumanitZServer/GameServerSettings.ini:
[ServerSettings]
; Public server name
ServerName=HumanitZ LanGame Wasteland Haven
; Join password (leave empty for public access)
ServerPassword=
; Port settings
GamePort=7777
QueryPort=27015
; Maximum concurrent players
MaxPlayers=8
; Difficulty preset (Easy / Normal / Hard / Permadeath)
Difficulty=Normal
; Zombie spawn multiplier (1.0 is standard)
ZombieSpawnMultiplier=1.0
; Automatic save interval (minutes)
AutoSaveInterval=10
Example startup command:
.\HumanitZServer.exe -log -MULTIHOME=0.0.0.0 -port=7777 -queryport=27015 -steamservername="HumanitZ LanGame"
5. Open-source LGSM management
We recommend the official open-source LanGame Server Manager (LGSM) (repository: GitHub - SZSLGJCOM/LanGame-Server-Manager).
- One-click template deployment: LGSM natively integrates a HumanitZ server module to download the
2728330core in one click. - Smart adapter binding: Automatically configures MULTIHOME and non-conflicting ports.
- Scheduled wasteland base snapshots: Backs up base containers and vehicle saves automatically to prevent corruption from unexpected deadlocks.
6. Remote multiplayer and network optimization
- Public internet: Forward UDP 7777/27015 on the router. Teammates can enter
public IP:7777in the game's main menu to connect directly. - Networking without a public IP: For rented accommodation or campus networks, use LINK in LanGame OS Orbit to establish an encrypted P2P virtual LAN tunnel. Connect with the virtual adapter IP for low-latency wasteland survival!
