Game Picks | Dinosaurs Return in Unreal Engine 5: ARK: Survival Ascended Tribe Progression and Server Clusters

Explore the UE5 remake ARK: Survival Ascended: Scorched Earth, The Center, Aberration, and Extinction maps, squad dinosaur-taming roles, and dedicated server cluster setup.

When it comes to riding dinosaurs and vast tribal battles over player-built homes, few sandbox players can forget ARK. Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) uses Nanite geometry and Lumen dynamic global illumination to push its prehistoric wilderness to a new level of realism. With official expansions including The Island, Scorched Earth, The Center, Aberration, and Extinction being remade and released in succession, charging enemy strongholds on a Rex or taming a Yi Ling in a dark, irradiated underground zone feels more spectacular than ever!

Why Is ASA the Ultimate Test for a Hardcore Squad?

  1. UE5 dynamic foliage and realistic water interactions: As enormous Brontosauruses cross dense forests, trees and bushes bend and sway with physical collisions; crossing rivers brings realistic fluid resistance. Ambushing enemies on a Raptor or diving to steal eggs on an armed flying mount creates an intense sense of immersion.
  2. An enormous taming and genetic breeding system: Every dinosaur serves as a distinctive tool: Ankylosauruses collect metal, Doedicuruses break stone, and successive generations of Ankylosauruses and Rexes can become powerful, durable fighters. Teammates share egg-incubation duties and prepare imprinting food to create a battle-dinosaur army capable of taking down wild Titans.
  3. Seamless travel between maps through a Cluster: With a self-hosted server cluster, your squad can take favorite mounts and supplies through ARK's light pillars between The Island, the deserts of Scorched Earth, and the underground world of Aberration, extending its conquests across continents.

Avoiding Pitfalls: Why Use a Dedicated Server?

ASA's heavy physics simulation and UE5 rendering workload leave non-dedicated sessions with the notorious tether-distance limit: teammates who move too far from the host are abruptly pulled back beside them! A persistent dedicated server removes that limit entirely:

An Easier Way to Manage Your Squad's Server

We recommend our open-source LanGame Server Manager (LGSM) (GitHub: SZSLGJCOM/LanGame-Server-Manager). Its ASA template supports automatic memory optimization and scheduling, one-click pairing of multiple maps into a Cluster, and scheduled world snapshots, so a crash during a dinosaur-taming expedition is less worrying!

Playing Across Networks and Joining the Server

  • With a public IP: Forward ports 7777/7778/27015 on your router. Tribe members can search for your server name from the main menu or connect with the console command open public-IP:7777.
  • Without a public IP on rental or campus networks: Open the LINK feature in LanGame OS Orbit together, enter a private encrypted room, and connect using the generated virtual network adapter IP. The encrypted P2P tunnel ensures zero packet loss!
